Disney buys Marvel

Penny Arcade Cartoon on the Disney buy out of Marvel. I just laughed out LOUD

Seriously though will Disney be making licensing money for the Marvel characters seen at Universal? If so that has got to sting a little...

More to the point in a future mixing of the streams will Mickey have a strange accident involving spider venom or perhaps green glowing radiation? What will his mutant power be- I dread to think!

I thought it was a pretty smart idea, Disney is trying to attract male crowds... Are they planning on building attractions having to do with Marvel?

The Attractions thing is a bit of an issue - could Orlando do two Hulk rollers or a pair of Spidermen attractions. The other thing is where are they putting the face/costume characters? Main St USA? hmm i think not.

Maybe not on Main Street, but maybe their own place?

Someone mentioned on a different board that this may have to do with the 5th gate.

From my peice Could Spiderman Save Disney Studios? - "So take that added draw and build it into a "Marvel-land" in that quiet corner that all the studios parks have and perhaps we have a winner on our hands. Imagine if you will a custom backlot street where Disney can imagineer buildings that are just the right height and distance apart to make a death defying Spiderman swing safe, spectacular and breathtaking. Break away walls for the Hulk and throw in a wind machine and fake sleet and snow to make Storm live in the set and that could be a real, in theme addition to the Studios, perhaps a replacement for the ageing Indy show?"

I cannot see Disney plumping for a whole new park if they have a suitable foster family waiting in the Studios.

That actually sounds like a good idea. How about actually putting the guests in the "moment" so to speak. Make a "Marvel City" having things going on at different times. Good vs Evil? Making the Guests citizens of the town? Really I am just curious to see where Disney will go with this.

Brandon - very good point I hadn't thought of how powerful the Villains brand is to Marvel. In many ways it is analogous to the Disney model.

Doc Oc is equally as powerful as Spiderman, Magneto is on as many tee shirts as Prof Xavier, in the same way as Malificent is as recognised as Sleeping Beauty. The villains will need - demand there own space and time on stage.

One of the biggest underground fan success was the Villains Store in the Studios, it was always one of my must sees on any trip.
