More speculation about layoffs at Disney in 2009?

Today sees two reports in the US as to the possibility of Layoffs at Disney this year. I have linked to both the WESH and Chicago Tribune reports.

On a slightly brighter note a union official at WDW is quoted as saying – “A union leader said the Disney Casting Center continues to hire and there’s been no word of a hiring freeze. That leads him to believe the layoffs are truly a consolidation and he’s hopeful the rank and file workers will keep their jobs.”

On a better note, US gas (Petrol for the rest of us) prices are forecast to stay low for the summer, which might hopefully mean a lot of drive-in traffic for the Parks. I can only hope as an ex-cast Member that things are not as gloomy as they seem.
