Interactive Disney Community Developments.

In the last couple of days I have added a couple of new features to the site that I’d like to share with you.

In the last couple of months there have been a couple of articles from the front page of the site that have drawn a lot of attention from the world outside of our Disney Cast Member community. Pages like the write up of the 2009 Layoffs and the Book of Remembrance for Austin Wuennenberg, the Cast Member who sadly died in the WDW Monorail accident of July 5, 2009 have attracted the attention of Disneyphiles, Fans and many others.

To allow these readers from outside the community to participate in the more general topics of conversation I added the Disqus web commenting service last week for the articles and have now extended it to cover these news update pages – the ones with a blue date icon on the top.

This has also had the knock on benefit that if one of these two page types is linked to on social media sites then it draws those comments in as well. Those services include; FriendFeed, Twitter, Digg, Blogger, Wordpress, Flickr, TypePad, Movable Type and Reddit.

The other feeds I have added are the official news feeds from both Walt Disney World and Disneylands press offices. Those can be found in the news and rumours pages.
