'Princess' banned from Disneyland
Excited mother Natasha Narula thought it would be fun to dress like a princess to take her daughter to Disneyland Paris. But, unlike Cinderella, she was stopped from getting to the ball.
Many English newspapers today including the Metro are carrying this sorry story of a family banned from Disneyland Resort Paris for wearing ‘Fancy Dress’. Mother Natasha Narula thought it would be fun to dress like a princess to take her daughter to Disneyland Paris but as many of us know you can’t wear ‘costume’ which may compare with Disney character costume, so she was denied access to the Magic Kingdom until she ‘moderated’ her clothes.
Ms Narula had bought the dress for £20 from a charity shop to celebrate her 35th birthday with her daughter – then decided to wear it to Disney.
For many years I would have been the guy called over to a Main Gate turnstile to break this bad news to the Guest and I find her story believable except for the details. Phrases like ‘she was stopped from getting to the ball by snooty security guards who said her outfit could confuse other visitors.’ ‘Being pulled aside by the security team was so humiliating’. Doesn’t sound much like Disney ticketing Cast Members to me.
Disney publish clear guidelines for Guests which go something like this…
Guest Appearance Guidelines
Disney reserves the right to exclude visitors to their gated attractions who wear clothing that could create a distraction.
Examples of unacceptable attire includes:
• Clothing displaying offensive messages/language
• Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as a costume (children under age 10 are excluded)
• Clothing made with offensive material, (ie transparent)
• Clothing that is excessively torn
• Clothing which exposes inappropriate portions of the body such as string bikini tops, G-strings, bikini bottoms, etc.
• Guests wearing wedding attire are discouraged from entering the Theme Parks.
All Disney Theme Park guests are required to wear shirts and shoes at all times. Swimsuit tops are allowed when worn with other appropriate clothing.
Disney's Pleasure Island, Disney Quest, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have other criteria in place which may vary from the general appearance guidelines. Depending on the venue and event, variations may be acceptable.
