After the Mouse.com

I sent a mail out to my Disney Cast Member friends on Facebook asking your help in trouble shooting the site. As fellow social networking enthusiasts and Disney employees my fellow “Facebookers” are possibly the ideal group to road test the site. As I get feedback I'll work out solutions and post the fixes on this page.

This site has been set up to be revenue neutral i.e. I am not in this to become a dot com millionaire… honest! i am doing this for the our Cast Member Community. Though having said that I do need to get a few dollars, yen, euros, pounds or in fact any money coming in.

I have updated the FAQ page, and added comments so that you can add your own questions to the list. I'll do my best to answer them and add them to the page.

Already on the page are answers to the questions about who runs the site, is it connected to Disney, the usual Cast Member stuff!

Site promotion… ok i get but… Google what? The time has come to start promoting the site to a larger audience. I am sending out emails to bloggers, site owners and news groups left, right and centre, all to get more Googlejuice.

Ok so we’re open for business… I have installed an invitation sending service into the site. I am assuming we all still have one or two friends and fellow Cast Members from your Disney Days, so to invite then to join simply click the “Invite Your Friends” link over here on the main menu, fill in the form and invite your friends to join. The other trick is if you invite a real world friend we’ll add them as friends automatically on here too.

Since I started the first version of this site a revolution has taken place… the RSS feed has been born! To make use of the Really Simple Syndication (that’s what it stands for…) feed I added the News and Rumors page to keep you all up to date with, well Disney News and Rumors! In fact if you click on the little orange icon at the foot of this page an RSS feed can be added to your web browser to keep you up to date with what’s happening on the site! Enjoy!

As you can see from the photo badge on the right side of the home page we have started a Cast Member photo collection over on Flickr.com Flickr is a free online photo storage and sharing facility which I know a lot of you already use.

The day I launch the site I come down with Gastroenteritis and Flu! Great!!
As the site starts to populate there are things I am starting to see open up in the site that I want to fix so please do bear with me for a while... there may be a few little things here and there that you see that aren’t 100% but they soon will be, promise!
It is only as members join the site and things start to grow that the soft opening works and I get to see the areas that need attention.

On October 5, 2007, 9:29 am something happened… a member joined… we’ve been found! Eeekkk! To be honest I would have been a lot happier if I’d have had a little more time to iron some of the bugs out, but we’ve been launched again. It is my own fault, Anthony, the chap in question emailed me about an event he is organizing and I said, “Sure AtM will help you promote your do, how about you promoting us?”. Going by the number of hits the site is getting, I’d say his reply was yes.
